In an unforgettable love story, a woman’s impossible journey through the ages could change everything . . .
I always must take a step back and reflect deeply when I finish one of Amy’s books. Her words dig so far into my soul I’m certain I’ll never be able to write a review to do it justice.
I’m not a fan of historical. Usually the ho-hum of the history bores me to tears but again this is Amy Harmon and I’m certain her writing could never bore me…of course I was right. She’s one of those authors who I’ll read without thinking or analyzing the blurb…she just is.
The wind carries your from the far long ago past of Ireland to the toils of 2001. The signature magic always found within a Harmon tale takes us on a spectacular journey through a country torn apart.
The historical elements weren’t of much interest to me though I discovered much I never knew but the Thomas and Anne riveted me to these pages. How could they find thier forever under the circumstances? You must travel with them to find out.
Now the ending left me so bereft and lost. I really need more. I wanted to know what became of everyone and where life took them though it doesn’t deter my love for this book.
There are not enough Amy Harmon books in the world, I could read one everyday and never tire of her words.
Anne Gallagher grew up enchanted by her grandfather’s stories of Ireland. Heartbroken at his death, she travels to his childhood home to spread his ashes. There, overcome with memories of the man she adored and consumed by a history she never knew, she is pulled into another time.
The Ireland of 1921, teetering on the edge of war, is a dangerous place in which to awaken. But there Anne finds herself, hurt, disoriented, and under the care of Dr. Thomas Smith, guardian to a young boy who is oddly familiar. Mistaken for the boy’s long-missing mother, Anne adopts her identity, convinced the woman’s disappearance is connected to her own.
As tensions rise, Thomas joins the struggle for Ireland’s independence and Anne is drawn into the conflict beside him. Caught between history and her heart, she must decide whether she’s willing to let go of the life she knew for a love she never thought she’d find. But in the end, is the choice actually hers to make?
